Knowing an item's call number will help you to locate it in the library. (An item can be a book, video, CD, or any other type of material kept in the library). MiraCosta College (and most colleges and universities) use the Library of Congress (LC) call number system. An LC call number will contain a combination of letters and numbers, and will typically end with a four-digit year. For example, QL737.P2 C35 2011. Ebooks may not always have a call number. Instead you are directed to the database that hosts the ebook.
There are a couple of ways to find the call number for an item in the library catalog:
1) At the top of the item's listing in a list of results.
2) Or, click on an item's "Details" button in the results list and the call number will appear in the bottom-left hand side of the item's record.
