Library laptops come equipped with the latest version of Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom and several browsers (MS Edge, Internet Explorer, and Google Chrome). Students are not permitted to download and install programs on Library-owned laptops. In some instances, our Campus ITS staff can provide assistance installing software onto library laptops. However, licensed software, such as Adobe Creative Cloud and Auto Cad are not permitted for installation on library loaned laptops.

Browser extensions and open source software required by CSIT courses and others may be permitted if they are a requirement for the class. You may make a request by sending an email to: LRCdesk@miracosta.edu. Please provide the following information:

  • MCC label information from the laptop (i.e. MCCWLAP120036)
  • Your name
  • SURF ID
  • Email
  • Phone number
  • The extension or software you are requesting
  • Class and instructor for which this is required

Once submitted, your request will then be routed to Campus ITS staff for review. They will then contact you to schedule an installation appointment at the Main campus library. Remote installation of software is not possible due to security concerns.

In addition, a variety of hardware and software options are available at our on-campus computer labs. For more information, visit:

For information regarding accessibility-related software, please contact Student Accessibility Services (SAS).
