What do you need to check out an item?
MiraCosta College students do not need a library card to check out materials. Instead, to check out materials a student must present one of the following forms of identification:
- a valid MCC ID
- a Student ID number along with a government-issued photo ID with your current address
Community members are welcome to come in and use the library at any time without a college identification card but may not borrow materials without a community patron ID card. The cost of a community patron card is $6.00 and is valid for one year after date of issue.
For more information, see the Library's Borrowing procedures page (scroll down to Borrowing Privileges for Community Members).
How many items can you check out at once?
20 items may be checked out at any given time by currently enrolled students, faculty, staff, and community patrons.
This 20-item limit applies to all items that may be checked out of the library including books, audiobooks, music CDs, DVDs, etc.
How long are the loan periods for different types of items?
