The books on the first floor of the library are the reference collection. In general, they are comprised of encyclopedia, dictionaries, atlases, and many other books that provide quick facts to answers or general overviews about various topics. If you would like to bring a reference book from the first floor to the second floor, please speak with the librarian at the reference desk.
The books on the second floor comprise the stacks. These are the items that may be checked out of the library and taken anywhere, including the first floor. Items that are only able to be used on the second floor include items on reserve (including both open as well as closed reserve items) and periodicals.
