Generally both Closed and Open reserve materials can be used in the library for a period of two hours and are returned to the "book return" at the circulation desk after use.
Closed reserve materials are kept behind the circulation desk and must be checked out for use by a currently enrolled student. To check out closed reserve materials you must present a MiraCosta College ID with the current semester sticker, or a "proof of enrollment" document printed from your SURF account (along with a current picture ID).
Open reserve materials can be found on the Open reserve shelves, located near the check-out desk at both the San Elijo and Oceanside campuses. Items are arranged on the shelves by class subject (for example BIOL or ENGL). Students may pull and use the items themselves or if needed they may ask for assistance at the Circulation/Check-out Desk.
